It's been a lonnnng time, and I have a big update in the works. But for now, can I just vent?

We have been trying to get on the waiting list for long term intensive services (like ABA) since DECEMBER. Excuse me for using this language, but this process is so. fucking. ridiculous. We recently got even more paperwork in the mail, about 50 questions to answer for the "disability determination bureau." What the hell else do they need to know? We've had evaluations with a neuropsych, we've visited BOTH therapy providers and had evaluations with them, we've been receiving services with Birth to Three or the school district since October of 2007. We had our home visit with the woman who (poorly) manages our case. There is miles and miles of freaking paperwork. Why do I need to fill out these 50 additional, redundant questions??

As I was sitting here (and I need to go in a second because Riley is stimming all over the place) trying to write these answers with chaos going on in my house, thinking about all of these parents who have to find hours and hours to fill this crap out. Parents of kids with autism, who's kids don't sleep, are constantly needing attention and guidance. There has to be a better way to be sure those who get these services "deserve" to get them.

Ha, as I'm writing this, I had to stop three times to deal with my own kid.

Point made.
